In 1996 the UK Ministry of Defence placed a 2 billion (GBP) contract for 67 WAH-64 Apache attack helicopters to be built by GKN Westland as prime contractor under licence from Boeing. Deliveries will take place between 2000 and 2003. A GKN Westland and Boeing joint venture has since won a 650 million (GBP), 30-year contract to supply the training package for the aircraft.
